s
the previous session drew to a close, many of the players were still doing
their own things in various places. Haplo was with Alexander, who had
reappeared moments ago, and Danville was still in the Amber infirmiry. The
locations of the other players were unconfirmed.
s Haplo
and Alexander were talking, Danville appeared looking substantially
healthier than he had when Haplo had left him. After Danville and Alexander
had introduced themselves Haplo explained to Danville that Faustus was dead,
but could not give much more information. Danville then asked Alexander if he
had tried to cross the barrier. Alexander explained he had attempted to use
an image of the other side of the barrier to pass through, and also described
the consequences of attempting this. (Please see
previous log entry)
t
this point Atathon also reappeared. He expressed concern that Amber would
be rather nervous when news of Faustus reached them, and that it might perhaps
be a wise move to proceed with caution.
e
then proceeded to explain to Alexander about the blood of Amber. In response
to Alexander's question concerning how many of this blood existed, he responded
"Fewer today than yesterday..."
lexander
and Atathon then left together, and shortly after Haplo left as well
leaving Danville alone.
Since all the players were apart for the next section, none of the events were logged. Suffice to say that eventually all the players made it to a shadow of Fiona's containing an Edwardian villa where Frederick was being held for murder.
andom
was obviously impatient as the last of the players arrived, and after
irritably asking "is there anyone ELSE who needs to be here?" pointed to
Frederick and demanded to know "why did you kill my son?"
t
this point it may be worth noting the reactions of the elder Amberites.
Fiona and was sitting back, seemingly fairly relaxed (under the circumstances).
Bleys was calm, and Flora looked somewhat bemused. Corwin (unsurprisingly) was
looking depressed, Benedict was looking as only Benedict can and Gerard was
definately looking unhappy. Random, however, was verging on the psychotic.
rederick
began to recount his version of recent events...
The following section is presented as Frederick's narative, with comments intersposed from other characters.
"I and Martin had noticed Faustus had been behaving strangely. He had been seen in the company of Atathon, who had tried to kill Martin in the past. We therefor suspected Fastus of betraying Amber..."
iona
was beginning to look disgruntled at this point.
"Thus Martin and I decided that Faustus should be eliminated for his actions..."
iona
definately was looking rather annoyed at this
point.
andom then interjected "Is there anyone who
can confirm this?" to which Frederick shook his head. "How convenient..."
was Random's response.
"We then teleported through the barrier using the pattern, and trumped faustus with the intention of luring him through the contact and killing him."
leys at this point asked "Why did you feel
it necessary to go into the barrier?"
"We did it so nobody from the courts of chaos could interfere with out actions. We managed to contact Faustus, and pulled him through the contact..."
ulian
then interuppted by asking Atathon "weren't you with Faustus at this
point?" to which Atathon explained he didn't particularly want to get involved
with someone who had Frederick's previous record of reactions to chaos.
"Yes, Atathon was there with Faustus, but we didn't want him interfering so we told Faustus to come alone which he did. After he had arraived, Martin attacked immediately. Faustus tried to defend himself, but was dead after a few blows. Following this the gravity in the area seemed to disappear and we couldn't move. Three dragons appeared and attacked Martin, while I was the target of thrown spears. I attempted to sprout wings, for I do have this power, but some magic prevented me. At this point I contacted Bleys my father and he pulled me to safety, but was not in time to rescue Martin."
t
this point Random asked Atathon for his version of events - his reply was
the same as was detailed in the previous log entry. One of the major
discrepancies with Frederick's story was that Atathon was sure the events took
place outside the barrier, as opposed to inside. To this Frederick shrugged
and replied "I had thought we were inside the barrier..."
andom
then asked Atathon to speculate on the 'greater power' which had
intervened after Faustus' death. Atathon replied that it was something of
chaos, but was unsure exactly what. He further explained his relationship
with Faustus as 'cordial' and that he had been interested in finding out
more about Amber from Faustus.
t
this point Frederick asked of Atathon "how did you know I would want to
kill you?" Atathon gave a slight smile and said "I had observed your actions
from anothers point of view..." and his form slowly slid into the familiar
shape of Ralthus.
anville
then confirmed that when Martin had first met Atathon, he had
immediately attacked him and was also very hostile to Faustus.
pon
Atathon asking Frederick what had made him suspect Faustus, he said "as I
have already said Martin informed me you had already tried to kill him, and
Faustus had been associating with you. It is a little flimsy I admit..."
aplo
then asked why Frederick did not act against Atathon directly, perhaps
with the aid of the elder Amberites. Frederick replied that Martin had indeed
spoken with Random before they walked the pattern, and that their plans had
all been known to him.
lexander
then confirmed, with the aid of a trump picture from Atathon, that
the person he had seen being consumed with fire after being attacked by
dragons in the shadow with the barrier had indeed been Martin.
ith an air of finality, Fiona then said "I
think before we recess two more matters need to be resolved - we must
speak further with Alexander, and I would also like to know where Atathon
aquired a trump of Martin..."
tathon
replied "I'm afraid it would be more than my life's worth to divulge
that information - suffice to say it would be in my interests to have a trump
of someone who had attacked me in the past..."
he session ended with the council recessing
for lunch.
